PSALM 23 AS A PSALM OF DEPENDENCE ON GOD

Let's Pray: Lord speak through me Today.  Begin with July 4th Celebration,  Independence and Dependence. Discuss the role of dependence in our physical lives. SNAP, CHILD SUPPORT, DOCTORS AND PHARMACIES, GOVT, TEACH. Even though we say we are independent but we rely on others for help. The 5 year old mess, sweeping....in human terms, children are meant to grow from dependence to Independence.  In our relationship with God, Maturity in Christ means Dependence on God in Prayer. Let's examine one of the profound ways the Lord has given us, His promise and Scriptural connection that assure us of our dependence physically and spiritually . Everybody knows Psalm 23.  Why is it so important? How does it apply to our lives as Believers? Psalm 23 has over the years inspired a lot of us as it gives hope, assurance and guidance. Many of us have sought to draw inspiration from this passage as a source of protection from our enemies. This memorized passage continues to remain uni...

NICE INTRO-ODD STORIES

When Andrew Cheatle lost his cell phone at the beach, he thought it was gone forever. About a week later, however, fisherman Glen Kerley called him. He had pulled Cheatle’s phone, still functional after it dried, out of a 25-pound cod. credit : OBD 1. Psychiatrist Paul D. Meier writes, I have had millionaire businessmen come to my office and tell me they have big houses, yachts, condominiums . . . , nice children, a beautiful mistress, an unsuspecting wife, secure corporate positions—and suicidal tendencies. They have everything this world has to offer except one thing—inner peace and joy. They come to my office as a last resort, begging me to help them conquer the urge to kill themselves. 2.   Dependence on God I turn to John Wyatt [cf. p. 103: professor of ethics and perinatology at University College Hospital in London] for an eloquent expression of the priority of dependence: “God’s design for our life is that we should be dependent.” We come into this world...

PRAYERS FROM ODB

Reflect & Pray Lord, You do take our breath away with Your greatness. Thank You for reminding us of Your grandeur in Your world and in Your Word.  Lord, we want our faith to be strengthened so that we can focus and trust You more fully.  God alone is worthy of our worship. As we face our own battles and challenges, let’s remember that God is our best ally and protector, provider and promise keeper. He strengthens us when we’re willing to “serve up” a whole-hearted commitment to Him. Reflect & Pray Lord, I want to rely on You more fully. Sometimes I see only what is around me. Please help me to look up and to trust You more. When we are abandoned to God, He works through us all the time. Oswald Chambers

DEPENDENCE ON GOD-CHILDLIKE PRAISE

March 6 Like a Little Child Bible in a Year: Deuteronomy 1–2 Mark 10:1–31 Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. Mark 10:14 FREEMIND NOT CONSIDERING WHAT IS AROUND HER. The little girl moved joyfully and gracefully to the music of praise. She was the only one in the aisle but that didn’t keep her from spinning and waving her arms and lifting her feet to the music. Her mother, a smile on her lips, didn’t try to stop her. My heart lifted as I watched, and I longed to join her—but didn’t. I’d long ago lost the unselfconscious expression of joy and wonder of my childhood. Even though we are meant to grow and mature and put  childish  ways behind us, we were never meant to lose the joy and wonder, especially in our relationship with God. When Jesus lived on Earth, He welcomed little children to Him and often referred to them in His teaching ( Matthew 11:25 ;  18:3 ;  21:16 ). On one occasion, He rebuked His disciples for attempting to keep pare...
